Anyone know the difference between a motel and a hotel?

in motels u can just park ur car, go in, and pay for a place.


it usually has no place to eat or such.


and they are quite informal.





hotels are more formal, and usually have places to eat, and a lobby, or such.


sometimes reservations are required.Anyone know the difference between a motel and a hotel?
The term ';motel'; is derived from the term ';motor hotel,'; which originally meant that the hotel provided parking (ca. 1950s). The term motel today generally is used for a ';limited service'; property (i.e., a hotel that provides a limited number of amenities and does not provide food service). Plus Motels are usually smaller and do not provide continental breakfasts and will allow pets and are usually more run down looking adn the food usually sucks. Hotels are usually larger and a lot nicer and provide a continental breakfasts but do not allow pets.Anyone know the difference between a motel and a hotel?
A motel means a motor hotel, originated from the old days when every family could first afford a car so the whole family drove away for a holiday. Motels would provide huge parking lot because every room would come with a car. That is why you don't find motels in the middle of large cities, where there are only hotels.
