Motel: A place to sleep where you can see your room door from the outside, or from your car.
Hotel: A p;ace to sleep where you walk down indoor hallways to get to your room.
Inn: A place to sleep where the establishment is usually privately or family owned, very old or having historical value. Like a Boutique Hotel. What's the difference between a hotel, a motel, and an inn?
Hotel- rooms inside of a building, access to rooms from inside the building only.
Motel- derived from 'motor %26amp; hotel'. Access to rooms from the outside.
Inn- Used to be a smaller type of hotel, with only a few rooms available, usually old houses. Now it is almost synonymous with hotel..
There are exceptions to all of those, but they for the most part follow those guidelines. What's the difference between a hotel, a motel, and an inn?
A motel, first derived most likely as a combination of the words ';motor hotel,'; is best described as a one to three story structure with rooms that open to the exterior of the building, usually surrounded by a common balcony or patio.
A hotel has rooms that open to the interior of the building, along a hallway, and is multistories.
Neither of these terms should be confused with a condominium property, which usually has limited, weekly maid service and is a building made up of privately owned units, or with a resort which is a hotel located in a resort area such as a beach. Hotels can be as limited in service as a Formant or Quality Inn or as luxurious in service and appointments as a Ritz Carlton. Motels will often be individually owned, or of a chain such as Motel 6.
Usage of the terms ';motel'; and ';hotel'; are not mandated by any governing body and are often applied loosely, especially in a situation where a large chain has purchased an older property and renovated it. The Holiday Inn Sun spree Resort on Cocoa Beach, FL is a prime example: a Resort on a beach with a restaurant, bars, awesome pool, and rooms with no balconies that open to the exterior of a two-story structure.
Inns and bed and breakfasts can be a wonderful type of accommodation for a vacation or getaway weekend. Understanding how they work and the pluses and minuses of choosing them over a traditional hotel room is key to making sure your stay is both delightful and stress-free.
Many inns and bed and breakfasts don鈥檛 accommodate young children. Sometimes the age and furnishings of the place are not appropriate for the fingers and playfulness of kids. But when an inn says kids are welcome, then you'd better believe they really mean they're kid friendly. Now there's nothing wrong with that (I have three myself), but don't expect too much peace and quiet and solitude.
Between those inns that ban children, and those that embrace them, you鈥檒l find a number of listings that put age restriction on children. For example they'll say something like: 12 or older, or above 6-years old. These places are also catering to a single or couple looking for a chance to unwind and free of noise and high activity. If you've got high-action kids then bed and breakfasts may not be ideal for your family.
In order of cost and amenities: A motel has very few amenities, it's designed for people that are really just passing through and need a place to sleep and freshen up; A hotel has more amenities, it could be for people that frequently travel and want more than a place to sleep and freshen up. Usually people stay longer in a hotel than a motel; An inn is for people that want a home like setting, large spacious rooms many many amenities and usually for people that have extended stays, such as people that go on vacation and want a home like setting where ever they may be staying.
Hotels are cleaner, and most of the time more expensive and fancy.
Motels are crap! I stayed at one over the weekend and it was nasty and smelled weird (it was an indian small motel) I don't recommend motels at all there cheap and not sanitary.
Im not sure whats the difference about an inn, I think its almost the same as a hotel but cheaper and not as clean.
Omg this q brings up so many memories(i know that sounds weird but its a topic we discused in school)
Ok a hotel has usually 3 or more layers to it.
A motel comes from mobile and hotel. A motel ususally has 1-2 layers to it. The mobile part comes from you can pull in to your room and inns i think are motels too
A motel is a hotel that is made for motor cars so you can park your car right up close to your room and it is on one level usually. I think an Inn is a way to make a motel sound a little classier and a hotel is usually many floors and fancier, usually they have restaurants, parking valets and shops.
hotels are meant for long stays, motels are meant for temporary stays and the occupants are usually mobile by care hence the ';mo'; in motel.
An Inn is more like someone's home and they take care of you.
Of course none of this really matters today, all of them are starting to be the same.
An inn is more of a chain hotel and alot more fancier than all three.
A motel is the worst of the 3. They are mostly 1 floor.
A hotel is in between an inn and a motel. It's not bad, but, it could be better. (they are a lot more comfortable and more affordable than an inn.)
well a hotel is more of a skyrise. more than 2 or 3 floors, unlike a motel. a motel is usually only 2 or 3 floors. an inn is simiar to both, but is probably more like a motel due to its small capacity. usually inns are small buildings with only a few rooms. hope this helped!

hotel is like an office building but with bedrooms?
motel has doors on the outside kindalike an apartment type of thing?
i think an inn is more homey and not quite like a big building, more like a giant house. ahha.
Hotels have interior entrances to the rooms.
Motels have exterior entrances to the rooms.
Inns provide a bedroom in a more family type environment.
Hotel has rooms going up, and motel has rooms next to each other, if that makes sense, and I have no idea what makes an inn different.
hotel- fancy
motel- not the best (cheap)
Inn- fancy (medium)
Hotel is a bit more expensive than motels or inns. Hotels have room services, etc. More space.. Motels are very small, has limited access to things. Inns are pretty much like motels. ^__^
hotel = stay for awhile...
motel = stay the night
inn = whatever u wanan consider it :P
Motels usually have doors that you enter from outside. You go inside the Hotel to enter your room. Hotels are nicer!
Hotel is indoors
motel the doors are outside so you can walk right from your car into the room
inn i have no idea
hotels are tall buildings, usually, and motels are usually only 1 or 2 floors.
a hotel is fancy a motel is cheap and ridden with roaches and and inn is in the middle
hotels and motels are both inns. inn simply means a place to stay. hotels are inns with high floors. motels are the smaller inns that usually have no more than two floors.
hope i helped! :)
hotel is generally more upscale than a motel.
I don't know what an inn is defined as
Motels dont have pools and their shitty
