How long should a mattress be kept, and what about those in hotels and motels?

If you properly rotate your mattress, and vacuum it at least once a quarter, you will greatly enhance the life of your mattress. It's also good to have a mattress protector on your mattress -- one that repels liquids and also prevents allergens. It makes it much easier to clean. Just throw the mattress protector in the wash when you change your sheets.





I have mattresses that are nearly 20 years old - they're in teriffic shape because I've taken the time to take good care of them over the years.

I keep one for about 5-8 years. Hotels should get new ones every 1-2 years.
