Well, the H and the M, and Hotels are usually bigger and/or nicer. Not much of a difference, really. What is the different between a hotel and a motel.?
NOTHING ITS JUST AN OLD WORD
Let's say you check into a hotel to actually sleep, whereas if you check into a motel chances are you won't be getting much sleep.
Motel
Motorists’ hotel: a hotel intended to provide short-term lodging for traveling motorists, usually situated close to a highway and having rooms accessible from the parking area. Also called motor hotel
Also called motor inn.
Hotel :
Place for an overnight stay: a building or commercial establishment where people pay for lodging, and where meals and other facilities such as conference rooms are often available.
wether or not they charge by the hour. as in no tell motel
Motels differed from hotels in their emphasis on largely anonymous interactions between owners and occupants, their location along highways (as opposed to urban cores), and their orientation to the outside (in contrast to hotels whose doors typically face an interior hallway).
as far as i know, a hotel is more expensive, and better than a motel which usually can be rented for hours but not in a hotel though...
Motel - Motor Inn, you typically park right outside your room.
Hotel - several floors, has a lobby
a hotel is usualy 'higher' and has several layers while a motel is smaller.
Hotels differ from motels in that most motels have drive-up, exterior entrances to the rooms, while hotels tend to have interior entrances to the rooms.
ie: Motel 6 vs. Renaissance Hotel
hotel: offers more services and is more upscale
motel: ';motor hotel';. simpler services, more ordinary, with a parking space and might have a kitchen
Price.
it used to be a motel was where you could drive you car up front and park right outside your room ..........now days probaly the price of the rooms
Hotels usually have two or more stories and are generally nicer, motels are one floor and have the ammentities of public housing.
To my opinion, the hotel is fancier,I think though!
a motel is designed for motor travelers (lots of parking near the rooms, one or two floors max)
To get to your room in a motel, you just unlock an outside door with a key and walk right in. To get to your room in a hotel, you first have to go inside, walk through the lobby, and down a hall to your room.
A hotel is bigger, and a motel is smaller
Motels have indoor corriders, hotels outside corriders
The first motel was in San Luis Obispo in California. The word was derived because they are designed to drive up to and you park near your room. They're generally more cheap and cheerful than a hotel, usually near major road intersections or on the edges of town. USA has Motel 6 chain.
motels tend to be more shabby?
