Motel and hotel?

what the heck is the diffrence between a motel and a hotelMotel and hotel?
you take a girlfriend to a motel, you take your wife to a hotelMotel and hotel?
motel=roadside hotel for motorists

hotel=estalishment providing accommodation and meals for payment taht is differ b/w hotel and motel thanks.
Motels are usually single buildings and don't offer many amenities, like a restaurant. Think Motel 6: short, not many floors, and sans restaurants or spas. A hotel has multiple floors and includes a lot of guest amenities, like elevators (ha!), a restaurant, breakfast service, room service, maid service, a spa, etc.
motel... only stay, no eating facilities

hotel.... with many facilities including eating/drinking !!!!
