Motel... rooms may be within a building, but generally have individual outside entrances to each room. (Motel is short for ';Motor Hotel'; which means you can drive up to, and park outside of your room)What is the diffrence between a hotel and a motel??
a hotel has all the room entrances inside the building, a motel has doors on the outside for each room
A motel has an outside entrance to your room, a hotel has an inside entrance to your room.
A motel is more little than a hotel and a motel is not to much service like hotel.
motel is 1 story and is torn up lol hotel is like 5 star rated the best u can get
it used to be that hotels were in town and motels were along the road for easy access to travelers :)
Urban sprawl, cross-country conferences, and Las Vegas extravaganzas are each associated with hotels, but a motel is where you might stay if traveling with your family through the Sequoia National Forest, the vast Montana countryside, or the sweet woods of Virginia. Motels are roadside lodgings that are often quaint and privately owned, though motel chains also exist. Motels first appeared along the highways of America not long after Henry Ford started rolling Model T’s off the assembly line, from 1908 to 1930. Tin Lizzy, as it was called, was the first affordable car offered to the masses. Once people got a set of wheels, they wanted to use them, and the humble motel sprang up to help motoring folks get from point A to point B.
One of the distinguishing features of a motel is that it is U-shaped or square, with an inner courtyard that serves as the parking lot. Doors face the lot, with ground doors opening directly to their own parking spaces mere feet away. This is extremely convenient for unloading suitcases. It is also reassuring to have your vehicle parked right outside the door where you can keep an eye on it, especially if it contains valuables.
Hotels serve a different purpose than motels, and as such, they are located in or near cities. The basic design of a motel differs significantly from hotels, where rooms face inward with doors opening to interior hallways. A guest might stay at a hotel for a week or longer on business or pleasure, and “extras” are expected. Hotels commonly offer Jacuzzis, gyms, pools, restaurants, room service, cable television, Internet connectivity, and other luxuries. Hotel parking lots are separate, and in many cases, the walk from the lot to the lobby can be a trek. Some hotels provided shuttle service.
While the average motel may not have the accoutrements found at hotels, it offers easy access, reasonable rates, and a less complicated experience. This makes a motel ideal for a night’s sleep as travelers make their way through the country’s less traveled roads to an ultimate destination. Some motels even feature individual cabins set among picturesque woods, perfect for a longer stay to get away from it all.
Motel 6 is one of the largest motel chains in the United States, offering an experience somewhat similar to that of a budget hotel. Motel 6’s are multi-story chains with direct access parking and are usually located just off a freeway or highway for convenience. The more typical motel is found in mountain towns and along smaller, more picturesque highways.
A HOTEL IS NICER AND MORE EXPENSIVE. A MOTEL IS CHEAP AND BASIC
hotel is mostly in cities, towns etc. in and around a living place with all facilities like boarding, lodging, gym etc. where as a motel is mostly on the highway mainly for a brief stay for travelers on road generally it has got some staying place and food for a quick bite lacks all the facilities of a hotel. hotel is generally costlier whereas motel is cheaper. hotels mostly patronised by salesmen, business people and tourists who visits a place with purpose. motels will be visited by all type of people like truck drivers, businessmen etc. and open to all
Motel one floor, hotel multiple floors. At least this is what was described to me. I think you'll find for the most part this is fitting. Although the dictionary clearly states there is no difference.
The word ';motel'; is actually a contraction of the term Motor Hotel. In the 50's and 60's longer distance travel by car became more popular. Prior to that, most travel was by train. Hotels were located in cities, and people took local taxis or other transportation from the train station to the hotel.
With more people traveling by car, a new form of hotel became more popular. It offered parking for the car traveler, many times just outside the door of the room. People traveling by car could pull up, and not have to carry luggage long distances to the room.
A motel will offer parking, a hotel may or may not. Usually now a hotel will be fancier, with more amenities than the motel. This is not always the case however, as some motel chains have upgraded their facilities!
The term is now mostly interchangeable, with motel tending to be used for lower cost facilities!
Usually hotel doors open into a hallway whereas motels open to the outside
basically the same, motel is much cheaper than a hotel, and a hotel has better service..
Generally a motel is just 1 floor or level and the rates are cheaper. A hotel has multiple floors or levels and room rates are higher.
motel name came from the connection between you and your car, meaning you park by your room, motel is smaller and contain rooms in one story building generally, a hotel is bigger more stories and better facilities.
Well, hotels are usually upscale and fancy and more expensive, while motels are plain and cheaper. Some of them can be really nasty.
nothing
