What is the difference between a hotel and motel?

A hotel is supposed to be a full-service house of lodging that caters to the all the needs of its guests.





Motels were originally built along and just off highways to provide weary motorists a place to rest. (Motel = Motorist Hotel)


A motel is generally a house of lodging that provides little services other than a place to sleep.





Also, you usually park your car directly outside your room.What is the difference between a hotel and motel?
a hotel seems to have the entrance to rooms inside the building, a motel has its entrance doors outside, a hotel has more than 2 stories, a motel has no more than 2 storiesWhat is the difference between a hotel and motel?
hotel is typically all inside and a motel will have an outdoor hallway between rooms.
A motel is smaller and sometimes less nice than a Hotel.
one has outside rooms and the other has inside
