What is the difference between hotel and motel?

The word motel comes from the phrase motor hotel.





Generall, motels are along highways on the way to other things. For example, you might stop at a motel on a trip that would take a few days. Motels don't have any ammenities (no room service or restaurant). Motel rooms generally open to the outside and those that are more than one story generally don't have elevators.





Generally, hotels are a final destination in a resort area or urban area. Actually the difference is that a hotel is usually larger and nicer and a motel...well sometimes gross usually ppl live there and not up to my personal standerds which are not that high : )What is the difference between hotel and motel?
hotel is when you go in through the lobby to get to your room(inside access to room)..motel you have to drive around (go outside)to get to the room...
hotel is for extended stay

Hotels always have more luxury, much bigger. Maybe not as big as resorts but they are still big. Motels are normally small, one bedroom.
