It's like discerning the difference between a rock and a stone.
Super 8 OR Motel 6?
Holiday Inn OR Howard Johnson?Besides the spelling, what's the difference between motel and hotel?
Yes, technically ';motel'; is a word that means ';motor hotel';. It's just a quick place to sleep for the night when you're on vacation or travelling on the road. A hotel is usually more posh and you usually make a reservation for it, for example, going on your honeymoon to Vegas or Niagara Falls, or on a business trip.
Examples of motels:
Travelodge
Super 8 Motel
Motel 6
Best Western
Examples of hotels:
The Westin
The Bellagio
The Mirage
Caesar's Palace
The Luxor
The HiltonBesides the spelling, what's the difference between motel and hotel?
Holiday Inn+Super 8 +Hotel= Conservative: an establishment that provides lodging and usually meals and other services for travelers and other paying guests
Howard Johnson+ Motel 6 +Motel= Liberal: an establishment that provides lodging for motorists in rooms usually having direct access to an open parking area
So if I just want to wine, dine, and explore extra activities in the city, I stay at ';hotel ';but if I just want to get my GROOVE ON for a night, I stay at ';motel';
So just my 2 cent definition between the two :-)
Hotels tend to be way nicer and more costly than motels. I do think that it matters though. I mean, you can say the same thing about a house. That it is a place to live in and who cares how big or nice it is? But, it does matter. I would prefer to stay at the Hilton rather than Motel 6. Which would you pick?
Motels cater to motorists. You usually see them along highways. They tend to offer less in the way of service, because if you want a hamburger, they figure you'll drive down the street and get one instead of paying room service $20.
Hotels cater to people traveling by air. They tend to be located downtown or near airports. They offer more services, like room service and airport shuttles, because people who stay in them traditionally aren't traveling in their own vehicles.
hotel's are nicer and fancier, have more features like a big screen tv, bigger, and are usually cleaner. and they cost more :P
motel's sometimes have cockroaches, and they're just generally not as good. cost less
my family never goes to a motel ew. hilton's the BEST! :D
Usually, motels are only one or two floors while hotels can have a hundred or more. Yeah, they serve the same purpose, but they are still different things and thus need different words to describe them.
whats the difference between a fast food restaurant and a sit down restaurant
for real i read some of the answers, and some of you people are retarded
the difference is size and service
I guess i always saw motels that had doors going straight to the outside. Hotels usually have a lobby and you go into your room from a hallway inside of the hotel.
Hotels- are bigger, accomodate more and have no kitchens in the rooms
Motels- accomodate less people, usually for a couple of nights stay and have a kitchen area
motels are cheaper than hotels...hotels are much cleaner...and motels are faster to get in but sometimes it can be dangerous... because most serial killers prefer staying at a motel after they just committed a crime, and there's less security...just speaking the truth
I always thought a motel was a place to sleep and a hotel was also a place to sleep but where you can drink liquor at a bar.
A motel has the entrance to your room outside off the parking lot and a hotel has it inside where there are hallways. A hotel usually has more amenities.
Motels have doors that face the outside. Hotels have doors that open to an interior hallway.
well my grandma always told us that motels doors are on the outside (like the entrance to the room) and hotels are on the inside.
I think with a motel you can pay by the hour....but in a hotel you might run into Norman Bates....just putting it out there... : )
I really don't think there is a difference
Hotels are where you stay while you're on a vacation. Motels are where you go to have sex with a prostitute.
