There is not really a clear cut difference, but a motel usually has rooms that are entered from the outside, and a hotel usually requires entrance through a lobby.
Hotels often have several floors above ground and a motel is usually 3 stories or less.
A resort includes attractions and is not just a place with rooms and a restaurant.
A resort is thought of as a destination, not just a place to spend the night. What is the difference between a hotel, a motel and a resort.?
a hotel is a place you stay when you are on vacation. it is pretty nice, but isn't where you spend your whole entire time. a motel is where you stay when you are on a budget or on the road. its just a place to rest your head for the night... a resort is what they usually have for families. you spend your whole entire vacation there and you don't have to leave because there are so many different things going on each day: water slides, animals, beaches, restaraunts, and shops are in resorts, duh!?!
A hotel has interior hallways. A motel has exterior walkways. A resort includes food, drink, and entertainment in addition to the room. A hotel or motel is a place to stay when visiting a destination. A resort *is* the destination.
A Hotel is where you stay if you're in town for a few days or weeks.
A Motel is where you bring someone to bang them, rented for 6 hours or less.
A resort is a vacation spot.
Size and amenities....
