Hotel: Originally derived from the French word 'Hostel' where, in the language, the 's' would be silent.





Motel: A single level, or dual level inn with drive-up accessibility, a contraction of ';Motor Hotel';History of hotel and motel?

One day, someone had to travel to another town to conduct business. Needed a place to stay.





Smith says ';can i shack up here tonight?';





Jones says ';it'll cost ya a nickel.';





Jones now runs Marriott International. Smith caught on and runs Sheraton.
