Personally, if i were to be going back there, I would stay in Sonoma (14 miles away - http://www.sonomachamber.com/ and http://www.sonomacounty.com/visitor_serv鈥?/a> or the Napa Valley (25 miles away - http://www.napachamber.org/) and make a day trip to Petaluma. I was there at the coast guard base getting training! There is a fantastic Italian restaurant in town called CHICAGO';S. The people in our class would skip b-fast and lunch to eat here. The house special is the deep dish pizza but everything was great. To drink I recommend the local micro brew ANCHOR STEAM either the lager or ale it is a superior product if you enjoy rich beer. It is the one time I would turn away from a good California wine!!! Can't help with accommodations UNCLE SAM had us covered. Hope this helps!
Why stay in Petaluma? Napa is to the north and SF is to the south.
