What is the difference between a Motel, Hotel and Hostel?

A hostel is usually a place with the bare essentials (ie bed, shower, but might not have towels) and shared accomadations. It is usually single beds and the number of people per room varies by location. Some are very nice others not so much. They may also have strict rules (curfew, lights out, no access during the day). Benefit: Cheap.

Motels: my definition is accomations with room doors that are accessible from the outside. (ie. you can park your car in front of your room type of place...but may have more than one floor.

Hotel: Accomadations where you usually have to go through the lobby to get to your room. What is the difference between a Motel, Hotel and Hostel?
A Motel is smaller than a hotel and you can stay at it for shorter periods of time. Normally Hotels you can stay in for longer periods of time, they are most of the time bigger and they have better services. Hostel is the name of a chop em up horror movie. (Very sexual and VERY graphic violence, 17 and up lol)What is the difference between a Motel, Hotel and Hostel?
Although the lines have become blurred over the years, generally - hotels are full service properties with a restaurant and upscale amenities. Motels are usually the next step down with restaurants nearby and fewer rooms and floors. Hostels offer limited services, semi-private sleeping quarters and often have common bathroom and shower facilities.
A motel is where you go for a passionate weekend or night, a hotel you book for your wedding anniversary and a hostel you stay in when you are backpacking!
Motel has 1 or 2 floors

Hotel has 3 or more floors

Hostel has shared rooms, you are really renting a bed, not a room
Motel 1 floor, Hotel many floors, Hostel no idea
